The program is designed for teachers who have completed the 200-hour requirements as per accreditation standards developed by Yoga Alliance for the National Teachers Registry.
This
course curriculum has an emphasis on practicum, which means application
of the practice in teaching and assisted teaching. Contact hours require
the student to be in the presence of either

Fees and Application
The program is designed
to allow a student to achieve the required hours
for the 500 hour certification within 2 years.
We will facilitate 250 contact-hours through workshops and assisted teachings
and other programs either in Northport or Queens NY.
The student is required to fulfill the 50 non-contact hours on their own.
Up to 60 hours of credits can be used as contact hours of instruction
other than YTTI with advanced approval. These hours will be billed at the
non-contact rate.
Since the program is
designed for students who have fulfilled the 200 hour requirement,
only 300 more hours are required for the 500 hour certification.

Contact
Hours:
Are hours spent with the directors of YTTI. In addition approved
workshops or retreats given by other well experienced professionals or 500-hour
teachers, will be acceptable as contact hours for a maximum of 60 hours.(these
will be billed as non-contact and require extensive write ups).
Non-contact
Hours:
These are hours in which you study with other professionals. All non-contact
hours require written essays or write ups of your learning experience within
the designated field. These also may be acquired through reading.
Techniques
- 100 Contact Hours:
Techniques include asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, and meditation.
These hours include both training in the techniques and the practice of
them.
For techniques contact hours, we will give monthly workshops in Queens or
Northport.
Workshops
will include philosophy or anatomy and special emphasis on specific yoga
practices such as: Assists and Uses of Props, Classical Asana Practice,
Restorative Yoga, Yoga for Children, Partner Yoga, Vinyas Yoga, Adaptive
Yoga (special needs), Prenatal Yoga, Praana and Pranaayama, Mudras and Bhandas,
and so on.
Techniques
- 20 Non-contact Hours:
Requires the students either to attend classes, workshops, or retreats related
to yoga practice. You also may read specified books. Credit will be given
after examination of written essays on the event or reading. Essays should
include techniques learned.
Teaching
Methodology
- 25 Contact Hours:
Teaching Methodology includes principles of demonstration, observation,
assistance/correction, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher,
and the student's process of learning.
For the teaching methodology, students
will observe or assist in classes taught by either Marianne or Mokshapriya
with prior consent. We will also offer special emphasis on teaching methodology
in workshops.
Teaching
Methodology
- 10 Non-contact Hours:
For this requirement, students must participate
in at least 5 classes of different yoga teachers and traditions.
Credit will be applied after a review of their written essay on the various
teaching methodologies learned from these classes.
Anatomy
& Physiology - 20 Contact Hours
Includes both physical Anatomy and Physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.)
and astral/energy/subtle Anatomy and Physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.)
This requirement
will be met through workshops and retreats.
Anatomy
& Physiology - 10 Non-contact Hours
Students will
be required to study the book: Anatomy of Hatha Yoga, by H.David
Coulter.
Three separate written analysis of the book are required.
1) Chapter 1, 2, & 3;
2) Chapter 4, 5, 6 & 7;
3) Chapter 8 & 9.
The write ups must demonstrate extensive learning and be detailed.
Philosophy
- 35 Contact Hours
Philosophy includes study of Yoga Scriptures (Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita,
etc.), ethics for yoga teachers, 'living the life of the yogi', etc.
This requirement will be met through workshops and retreats. .
Philosophy
- 15 Non-contact Hours
Requires the students either to attend classes, workshops, or retreats related
to philosophy. You also may read books or scriptures not covered in the
200 hour course. Credit will be given after examination of written essays
on the event or reading.
Practicum
- 70 Contact Hours
Practicum includes student teaching, as well as observing and assisting
in classes taught by the directors or other qualified instructors. This
may include asanas, pranayama, mudras and bandhas, shat karmas, philosophy,
meditation and anatomy.
Students can also assist us during asana training
classes and during Saturday YTTI sessions and other classes we teach. We
will also be actively observing yoga classes that the students are teaching.
Alliance
Specifications:
All the above
specifications are according to Yoga Alliance.
Students are able to register with Yoga Alliance upon completion of this
course at the
500-hour level if you have an additional 100 hours of teaching experience.

The
Criteria
The program is
designed for teachers who already have completed the 200 hour requirements
as per accreditation standards developed by Yoga
Alliance for the National Teachers Registry. Documented proof
is essential.
It may take two or three years to finish. Each student
will go at their own pace.
Records
Each student will be required to keep a detailed, meticulous log of hours
in their own special stitched notebook, such as a composition book.

The book should be set up so that each separate topic has a division within the bookand tabs. Such as "Techniques Contact Hours" next division is "Techniques Non-contact" etc - all of the above categories. Each Division should have at least ten pages. The last division is teaching hours. Keep a good log of all your teaching hours.
At workshops each
student receives a certificate of completion which must be logged into the
book according to the credits given at that workshop.
In addition, each student will be required to sign a special register at
the school, so both the school and student will have a record of the hours.
All other contact hours in classes or observations are logged in the appropriate division and must be initialed by the instructors. Such as practicum as above and initialed by Mokshapriya.
All logged entry's should have the date, where, the subject and the hours. Hours should be in one column for easy addition.
Non-contact hours
must be logged in both the school and student record books on a periodic
basis, after the approval of the directors.
All non-contact hours regardless if used as contact require written assignments.
Students will submit one copy to the school with their name, hours and under
what category the request is made, and keeps one copy for their files. School
will not return the copies. The records kept by students must be available
at the completion of the curriculum for review.
In addition to above records, students need to maintain a course journal
and notes of the learning process.
Certification
It is the student's responsibility to keep their own record of the contact
and non-contact hours, and when they can demonstrate that the requirements
have been met, we will review student records and school records. After
the review, the student will graduate and receive a certificate of completion
Ethics
Students are given the California Yoga Teachers Association statement of
Professional Standards and are expected to follow their guidelines.
Students will follow the eight-fold path outlined by Patanjali - yama, niyamas,
asana, pranayama, pratyahar, dharana, dhyan and samadhi.
Studies
Ongoing personal yoga practice is required and regular attendance at a yoga
class.
To

We
will require a matriculation fee of $300 with your application
for the first year, which is non-refundable.
Each subsequent year will be a non-refundable fee of $250 per year.
The 250 contact hours will be billed at the average rate of $8.50 per hour.
The
50 non-contact hours will be billed at $4 per hour.
Required textbooks and props will be additional costs.
Other
fees for the non-contact hours
(such as observing and taking classes with other teachers)
will also be an additional cost.
